A South African consortium led by Neal Froneman is planning a R6.7 billion ($402 million) motorsport and property development in the Western Cape to bring Formula One back to the country by 2031.
The proposed Blue Mountain Racing project includes a new Formula One-standard circuit, hospitality, entertainment, and property developments on 600 hectares near Cape Town.
The development is designed to serve broader purposes, including MotoGP events and real estate opportunities, to ensure commercial viability even if Formula One approval is not secured.
Although still at the pre-feasibility stage and not yet guaranteed a Formula One race, the initiative could mark South Africa’s first Grand Prix since 1993.
