Marko Doubts Red Bull Can Repeat 2025 Comeback in 2026
Helmut Marko admits he is far less confident that Red Bull can mount another late-season comeback like they did in 2025. The Austrian believes the team’s current situation is much more difficult, with the RB22 still lacking the pace and consistency needed to fight at the front.
Although Red Bull introduced major upgrade packages in Miami and Austria that reduced the performance gap from around 1.2 seconds to just a few tenths, Marko says their rivals have also made significant progress. McLaren and Ferrari, in particular, continue to improve and remain strong contenders for race victories.
Marko pointed to the RB22’s instability as the biggest concern, noting that both Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar described the car as difficult to drive during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. Both drivers also suffered spins, further highlighting the car’s unpredictable behavior.
When asked if Red Bull could produce another dramatic championship comeback, Marko was honest in his assessment.
“The competition from McLaren and Ferrari is too strong, and the car is too unstable. I wouldn’t bet on it.”
