Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni has resigned

Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni, who was presiding on the case of Joe Ferrari Sibanyoni and co accused on the 15 and 18 May 2026 in Kwaggafontein Mkobola Magistrates 's Court and subsequently struck the case of the roll due to a no show of a Prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba has reportedly retired from her position on Friday 29 May 2026.

It's reported that she threw a farewell party on Friday at three star wildlife events and family resort between Mbombela and White River.
Tunjeni was reported to Magistrate 's Commission for her conduct in the Joe Ferrari Sibanyoni and co accused case of extortion and money laundering. As a result she might no longer called to account for her actions.

Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni has faced a formal complaint from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regarding her handling of a high-profile case involving taxi boss Joe "Ferrari" Sibanyoni. The complaint was filed after the court proceedings on May 15 and 18, 2026, where Tonjeni struck the case off the roll due to the prosecutor's failure to appear.
The NPA raised serious concerns about the conduct of the proceedings, including the conviction of the prosecutor for contempt of court and the authorization of a warrant of arrest against him. The NPA has also filed a notice for leave to appeal against the contempt ruling and the warrant of arrest.

Investigations are on going.
