Repairs on a damaged main supply pipe affecting Van Riebeeck Park, Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Norkem Park, Birch Acres, Terenure, Cresslawn, Chloorkop, Edleen, Kempton Park west and Esther Park are under way.
Estimated restoration time is 18h00.
Water tankers will be stationed at the following locations:

🚰Birchleigh at Elgin Mall
🚰Birch Acres at Birchgate
🚰Birchleigh North Mall

 Tuesday 5 May 2026 #WANTED The #HAWKS members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Commercial Crime Investigation are seeking information on the whereabouts of Gugu Maria Zikalala (55), who is wanted in connection with a fraud case. In March 2015, Zikalala is alleged to have submitted a false affidavit to the Master of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, falsely claiming she was eligible for appointment as executor of the estate of the late Nqobile Minenhle Ndlovu and falsely claiming to be her biological mother. Zikalala also submitted a death certificate for the late Thulani Michael Ndlovu, the biological father of Nqobile Minenhle Ndlovu. Her application sought access to the minor’s guardian funds, amounting R243 983.09. The Hawks are appealing to the public for assistance in locating Gugu Maria Zikalala.
