 URGENT WATER CRISIS ALERT FOR EKURHULENI

Residents across Ekurhuleni are being urged to prepare for major water disruptions as Rand Water and the City of Ekurhuleni have announced an extensive maintenance operation that is expected to severely impact water supply in multiple communities.
The large-scale maintenance programme is set to begin on 29 May 2026 and will continue in phases until 19 July 2026.
-EXPECTED IMPACTS INCLUDE: ▪️ Sudden water outages ▪️ Critically low water pressure ▪️ Intermittent water supply interruptions ▪️ Prolonged dry taps in certain areas

Residents are strongly advised to begin storing emergency water supplies immediately for drinking, cooking, sanitation and other essential household needs.
The City has indicated that water tankers will be dispatched to heavily affected areas where possible, however communities are encouraged to use water sparingly and prepare for extended interruptions during the maintenance period.
Community members are encouraged to share this notice widely to ensure families, schools, clinics and businesses are prepared ahead of the planned shutdowns.
