OPERATION PROSPER MEMBERS APPREHEND A CHINESE NATIONAL FOR COUNTERFEIT LIQUOR


A joint operation conducted by the Counterfeit Unit, Liquor Authority, #SARS, and #SANDF in Eerste River uncovered a liquor store with suspected counterfeit alcohol intended for export purposes.

On Tuesday, 26 May 2026, at approximately 10:00, members under #OperationProsper approached the male shop owner, a Chinese national. By the end of their inspection, they had confiscated 6 201 litres of various liquor products with an estimated value of R3.5 million, which were booked in as exhibits.
The Chinese national was arrested and detained at Kleinvlei SAPS and is due to make his first court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court soon.
