Liam Lawson has apologized to Pierre Gasly for the accident that occurred during the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, 2026. Lawson attributed the incident to a sudden gearbox failure, which left him unable to control his vehicle and triggered a collision with Gasly. He expressed regret for the situation, stating, "It's a shame because it obviously took out Pierre as well".
