Frederick Nicolaas Le Roux to an effective 25 years’ imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Taryn Le Roux

The Durban High Court has sentenced former SANDF Special Forces member Frederick Nicolaas Le Roux to an effective 25 years’ imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Taryn Le Roux, following a fatal shooting at a Westville pub in September 2025.

The shooting took place on September 15, 2025 at Waxy’s restaurant in Westville, Durban.

According to evidence presented before the court, Le Roux allegedly told his wife to “call the police” moments before firing the fatal shot.

The couple’s relationship had already been marked by allegations of ongoing domestic conflict.

Le Roux faced five charges in total, including murder, three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition.

The case, which has drawn national attention since the killing in 2025, has now reached its conclusion with Le Roux beginning a lengthy prison sentence.

 Tuesday 5 May 2026 #WANTED The #HAWKS members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Commercial Crime Investigation are seeking information on the whereabouts of Gugu Maria Zikalala (55), who is wanted in connection with a fraud case. In March 2015, Zikalala is alleged to have submitted a false affidavit to the Master of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, falsely claiming she was eligible for appointment as executor of the estate of the late Nqobile Minenhle Ndlovu and falsely claiming to be her biological mother. Zikalala also submitted a death certificate for the late Thulani Michael Ndlovu, the biological father of Nqobile Minenhle Ndlovu. Her application sought access to the minor’s guardian funds, amounting R243 983.09. The Hawks are appealing to the public for assistance in locating Gugu Maria Zikalala.
