Fannie Lehong Ramolomo [28] Life Sentence for child rape of 12 year old boy.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of 28-year-old male accused, Fannie Lehong Ramolomo by the Senwabarwana Regional Court on Thursday, 30 April 2026.
The case relates to an incident that occurred on 12 August 2022 at about 16:00 in Gatibunyana village under Senwabarwana policing area. A 12-year-old boy was walking home from school with a friend when they encountered the accused who was wearing only trousers and no shoes.
Fannie chased the pair and grabbed the victim and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash and a watch. He then demanded a cellphone. When the minor said he did not have one, the accused dragged him to nearby bushes where the rape occurred.
Following the incident, the victim ran home and informed his family. He was taken to a local hospital for medical examination and the matter was reported to the police and the case of rape was registered.
A manhunt was launched and the suspect was apprehended on 23 August 2022 with assistance from members of the community.
The matter was transferred to the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for further investigation. Warrant Officer Mokgadi Lefowa was assigned to the case and through forensic DNA analysis, the accused was positively linked to the offence.
Fannie made several court appearances at the Senwabarwana Regional Court and was denied bail throughout the proceedings. On Thursday, 30 April 2026, he was found guilty of both counts.
The court sentenced Fannie Lehong Ramolomo as follows:
- 1. Count 1 – Rape: Life imprisonment
- 2. Count 2 – Robbery: Five years imprisonment
The sentences will run concurrently and he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be entered into the National Register for Sexual Offences.
"I commended Warrant Officer Mokgadi Lefowa for acquiring the sentence through her sterling investigation and also thank the community members whose assistance led to the arrest of the accused." She concluded.
