⚠️ Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Recovery & Arrests 📅 20 May 2026 📍 Atlasville
On 20 May 2026, CMS responded to a serious armed robbery and kidnapping incident in Atlasville after an elderly resident was confronted and held hostage at his residence.
The suspects forced the victim into his own vehicle before transporting him to various locations and forcing withdrawals from his bank account. The victim was later dropped off in Brakpan.
CMS officers immediately responded and remained operational throughout the night alongside SAPS, assisting with victim support, vehicle recovery efforts, suspect tracking and operational coordination.
During the operation:
• The victim was safely recovered
• The stolen vehicle was recovered
• A firearm stolen during a previous robbery at the same premises was recovered
• Two suspects were arrested
The suspects are expected to face charges relating to:
Kidnapping
Armed robbery
Possession of stolen property
Possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition
