The South African MMA National Championship will take place from April 30 to May 3, 2026. This event will feature athletes from various provinces competing for the title of SA Champion, with opportunities for national team selection for IMMAF events.

This premier Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Event on the Calendar takes place in Gauteng for the 2026 edition

Athletes from Provinces around the Country will be competing for the coveted title of SA Champion - with a chance of National Team selection for IMMAF Events in Abu Dhabi and Georgia later this year

This event is open to Athletes from Affiliated MMA SA Gyms who have been selected by their appointed Provincial Coaches

Youth A B C & D will be competing on Thursday the 30th April 2026

Junior and Senior brackets with commence on the 30th April - 3rd May

The South African National MMA Team consists of amateur athletes in several age and weight classes, including:

– Youth (Ages 10-17)
– Junior (Ages 18-21)
– Senior (Ages 21+)

In order to qualify for the South African National Team, MMA Athletes need to compete in several tournaments, first securing themselves a place on their local Provincial Team, then competing annually at the SA Nationals.

Top competitors who prove their skill and grit by placing first and second at Nationals are then selected to represent their country as part of the South African National Team. The SA Team competes in the International Mixed Martial Arts (IMMAF) Africa Championships and World Championships annually.
