A Germiston police officer has been arrested for sexually assaulting a lady prisoner. The officer was arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) on the night of 23 April 2026, following allegations of the incident that occurred on 21 April 2026.

The officer was arrested for raping a female detainee while she was in custody. The incident involved the officer going to the complainant’s holding cell and raping her, who was arrested in connection with a domestic violence matter.
The complainant did not report the incident immediately due to fear of intimidation by the suspect's colleagues.
The matter was reported to IPID, which launched an investigation that led to the officer's arrest.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on Tuesday (28 April) as investigations continue.
