Eldorado Park welcomes the sentencing of a murder accused

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Eldorado Park welcomes the sentencing of a murder accused, following the diligent investigative work by Detective Sergeant Johnny Molokeng.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 02 April 2021, at approximately 00:30, at a tavern in Freedom Park. The victim, a 29-year-old male, was socialising with his girlfriend when an argument ensued between the victim and the accused. The altercation escalated, resulting in the victim being stabbed.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Detective Sergeant Molokeng, who was assigned to the case, acted swiftly in gathering evidence and tracing the suspect. The suspect was arrested later the same morning.
On 09 April 2026, the accused was found guilty and sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment. The sentence includes 8 years for the primary charge, with an additional 5 years of which 2 years are suspended.
The Station Commander of Eldorado Park SAPS, Brigadier Maluleke, has commended Detective Sergeant Molokeng for his dedication and professionalism, which contributed to securing the conviction and ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
