The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned an incident in which four children aged between 7 and 9 were allegedly raped by a 54-year-old man at Manoge village, Seleteng, under Lebowakgomo Policing area.
Following this heinous act of crime, Lebowakgomo Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit, arrested a 54-year-old suspect.
According to the report, on Thursday, 16 April 2026 between 09:00 and 11:00, four children were allegedly raped by a 54-year-old man.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the four children were playing together when they decided to go and visit the suspect's place, just a few houses away. Upon their arrival, the suspect allegedly took the first two children inside the house and raped them. Afterward, he released them. The other two victims were also instructed to get inside the house and were allegedly also raped.
After his deeds, he allegedly threatened the victims not to inform their parents about what happened.
The grandmother of one of the victims noticed a strange behavior and asked the child what happened. That was when she was informed about the ordeal. The victim's mothers were notified about the ordeal and immediately reported the matter to the police.
The FCS unit took over the investigation and expedited the process until the suspect was apprehended. The suspect will appear before Lebowakgomo Magistrate's court on Monday, 20 April 2026, on four counts of rape.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrest and urged parents and guardians to safe guard their children at all times. "It is disturbing to learn that some people who are supposed to be entrusted with protecting and looking after children, tend to be perpetrators and we will stop at nothing to make sure such people face the full might of the law" Concluded General Hadebe.
