35-year-old Zola Mbola to life imprisonment for rape of a 41-year-old mentally challenged woman


 Friday 17 April 2026 

The Vosloorus Regional Court has on 02 April 2026 sentenced 35-year-old Zola Mbola to life imprisonment for rape of a 41-year-old mentally challenged woman at Dawn Park on 03 February 2024. The accused lured the victim to his home with the promise of a cold drink.
The case was opened at Dawn park SAPS and assigned to Detective Sergeant Simon Kabelo Tala of the Brakpan Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit for further investigation. The accused was arrested the same day.
On 02 April 2026, the accused was found guilty by the Vosloorus Regional Court and sentenced to life imprisonment for rape.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole has welcomed the conviction and applauds Detective Sergeant Tala for the meticulous investigation that led to the conviction and sentencing of the accused. #Sentencing #EndGBVF
