 Plenty rugby action coming up in the URC Championship League. The 2025/26 season features a packed calendar, including festive derby rounds and themed matches. The season kicked off on September 26, 2025, with various teams competing for playoff places and Champions Cup qualification. The top eight teams will progress to the playoffs starting May 29, with semi-finals on June 6 and the final on June 20, 2026.


This weekend sees all four South African rugby teams taking part in Round 14 of the United Rugby Championship 25/26.

Dragons RFC vs The Vodacom Bulls

The Vodacom Bulls are currently ranked 8 out of 16 in the URC rankings with 40 points.

To secure a semi-final spot in the URC Rugby 2025-2026 league, the Vodacom Bulls must:
1. Perform well in their upcoming matches:
The Bulls need to win their remaining matches to advance to the semi-finals.

2. Manage injuries effectively:
The team must be mindful of player injuries and make necessary substitutions to maintain competitiveness.

3. Focus on home-field advantage:
Hosting the semi-finals at Loftus Versfeld gives them a significant advantage, which can be crucial in their performance.

Dragon RFC holds 21 points and ranked 15/16 in the URC Rugby League.
To secure a semi-final spot in the URC rugby 2025-2026 league, the Dragons RFC must:
1. Achieve a total of 21 points in the league standings.
2. Rank 15th or higher in the league standings to qualify for the playoffs.
3. Win their remaining matches to improve their position and secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Currently, they are ranked 15th, which is not enough to qualify for the semi-finals, but they can still improve their standing by winning their upcoming matches.

Stormers vs Connacht Rugby

The DHL Stormers are up against Connacht Rugby at the DHL Stadium.
Currently ranked 2nd out of 16, with a massive 51 points to their achievements, their focus must be to defend and play the basics, take opportunities when they present them selves and apply the pressure, after all it's their opponents with 'the must win' pressure along with a long long away from home game. If the Stormers players don't intimidate the Connacht Squad, the fans roaring in the stadium definitely will.
Connacht Rugby have scored 39 points, being ranked 9/16, will be looking to pull the bunny out of the hat and beat a very fired up Stormers Squad.

Lions Rugby Co vs Glasgow Warriors

No 5 ranked Lions rugby team, bosting 43 massive points will be all fired up to face current leaders Glasgow Warriors. The leaders have 55 points and will be looking to apply pressure from the get go. The Lions must defend and take the game into deep waters to take advantage of fatigued players to secure a win.
This matchup is set to be Match of the weekend.

Ospreys vs The Sharks

No 10 ranked The Sharks and No 11 ranked Ospreys face each other on a 'have to win' mindset on both sides. None can afford to lose and the pressure will be felt on from both teams.
Both teams have had a pretty similar season thus far and the first team to blink and make a mistake could pay the price dearly.
Both teams are going to be on their nerves and the room for error is going to be on the extreme fine line of limit.
