CONVICTED RAPIST TO SPEND LIFE BEHIND BARS


The Durban Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 36-year-old man to life imprisonment for rape after he was found guilty of raping a 12-year-old girl who was his neighbour.
On 31 December 2021, the now-convicted rapist lured the young girl to his flat, where he raped her. The victim did not report the matter to her parent; however, the attentive mother overheard her daughter narrating the rape ordeal to a friend and reported the matter to the police.
The Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit detectives investigated the matter and ensured that the rapist spends the rest of his life in prison. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
