 [PERSON OF INTEREST] The Eastern Cape Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation Unit is urgently seeking the community’s assistance in locating a person of interest, Lukhanyo Mekula, who may assist in solving a mass shooting incident in Gqeberha.


On 26 April 2026, a shooting took place at Wells Estate in Gqeberha, resulting in three fatalities and six serious injuries. The injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lukhanyo Mekula is urged to contact Sergeant Yali on 082 066 0329, or call #CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or use the #MySAPSApp. All information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.

 Tuesday 5 May 2026 #WANTED The #HAWKS members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Commercial Crime Investigation are seeking information on the whereabouts of Gugu Maria Zikalala (55), who is wanted in connection with a fraud case. In March 2015, Zikalala is alleged to have submitted a false affidavit to the Master of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, falsely claiming she was eligible for appointment as executor of the estate of the late Nqobile Minenhle Ndlovu and falsely claiming to be her biological mother. Zikalala also submitted a death certificate for the late Thulani Michael Ndlovu, the biological father of Nqobile Minenhle Ndlovu. Her application sought access to the minor’s guardian funds, amounting R243 983.09. The Hawks are appealing to the public for assistance in locating Gugu Maria Zikalala.
